When Lady Gaga took to the stage at last night’s 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, she appeared rocking some white knee-high boots, a midriff-revealing unitard and a single feathered shoulder pad. She then churned out a couple of lines from ‘Poker Face’ before going straight into ‘Paparazzi’. She also won three Moon Men for ‘Best New Artist’, ‘Best Art Direction & Best Special Effects’.
Gaga did her trademark banging on the piano routine with the other foot firmly placed on the instrument. Then she proceeded to act like a crazy woman possessed. I didn’t think her performance lived up to the hype to be honest. It was her first VMA performance so for her, I understood it was a big deal, but to me, the performance was just good but not exceptional. Vocally, it shows she is a great singer and shuts down the naysayers who doubted her vocal talent. However, I just thought the performance was very gimmicky especially with the fake blood and death concept. I would have preferred it if she just performed without all the crazy shenanigans. It still would have made a great (if not, better) performance. You can now watch the performance after the jump.
